Attainable Sustainable is the future. We're not wrong, we're just that advanced.
Photovoltaic Cells and the Grid
One of the main technologies that utilizes the power of solar energy is photovoltaic cells. A photovoltaic cell absorbs solar radiation waves and converts it into direct current (DC) electricity using photovoltaic effect semiconductors. The direct current can be turned into alternating current (AC) with the use of an inverter so that household appliances and electronics can be powered. The usage of photovoltaic cells is becoming much more widespread throughout commercial and even residential construction. It's a pretty great concept for homeowners to have their appliances, computers and utilities to be partially powered by simple sunlight. The greatest part of this technology is that it greatly cuts down the energy consumption of a home connected to the power grid.
Solar Heated Water System
A proposed project for heating water with solar power. Using evacuated glass tubes, water can be heated with the transfer of heat through copper pipes. The heated water is then fed into a storage container. The cold water at the bottom of the tank is pumped back to the tubes and the process is perpetuated.
